about
Urban Roots is a podcast that takes a deep dive into little-known stories from urban history, focusing on people of color and women. We are hosted and produced by Deqah Hussein-Wetzel (a Somali-American historic preservationist based in Cincinnati) and Vanessa Maria Quirk (a cities journalist and podcaster based in New York City). Our podcast edited by the multi-talented Connor Lynch.
We are brought to you by Urbanist Media, an anti-racist community preservation not-for-profit whose mission is to elevate underrepresented voices and ensure the places significant to them are preserved.
